Republicans Turn On Trump, Join Democrats For Russian Investigation Push (DETAILS)

With Republicans having the House, the Senate, and the White House, Donald Trump has had the advantage in regards to what agenda gets pushed and how things regarding investigations are to be handled.

However, Trump is now losing his grasp on even the Republican party, and his desperation has been seen in recent desperate moves, including the firing of James Comey from his position as Director of the FBI.

With Democrats calling for an independent commission to call forth a special prosecutor regarding investigations into the connections between the Trump campaign and Russia, Republicans are now starting to follow suit.

It seemed for a while that the GOP was falling in line behind Trump no matter what, but Conservative Republican Justin Amash (R-MI), who is a member of the Freedom Caucus, was very bothered by Trump’s letter to Comey and he tweeted out last Tuesday:

Then, on Friday, Amash tweeted:

According to Buzzfeed:

“The legislation Amash has signed on to was introduced by Democratic Reps. Eric Swalwell and Elijah Cummings in December. It was reintroduced in the House and introduced in the Senate at the start of the new Congress in January. But it has stalled without significant Republican support.

The only House Republican to sign on to the legislation before Amash was North Carolina Rep. Walter Jones.”

However, it’s very likely that more Republicans sign on in the coming weeks as Trump’s behavior grows more erratic and new information potentially reveals itself.

Swalwell is one of the Democrat’s leading the charge in getting a proper investigation into Trump’s Russia ties¬†and is actively¬†speaking to his Republican colleagues to step up and do the right thing.

Swalwell said of Amash:

“I’m glad Rep. Amash has joined this effort, and I hope he can persuade others to join, too. We must put country over party to get to the bottom of what happened, and to ensure it never happens again. We can only find these truths with one, united search party.”

And hopefully, they get to the bottom of this sooner rather than later.
