Senate Democrats Shame Trump’s Homophobic White House, Honor Pride Month (TWEETS)

Donald Trump’s White House is easily one of the most homophobic in history. This comes as no surprise, despite his campaign trail nonsense and lies about being some kind of “friend” to the LGBTQ community. We all knew that wasn’t true the second he picked Mike Pence to be his running mate, the man who rose to national prominence by signing one of the harshest anti-LGBTQ laws in the nation as Governor of Indiana. Therefore, it was not at all shocking when the White House said not one word about LGBTQ Pride Month.

As June draws to a close with nary a peep about the LGBTQ community from t
the White House, Senate Democrats have decided to take up the mantle themselves. Senator Sherrod Brown has drawn up a proclamation that urges his fellow Senators to recognize the month of June as LGBTQ Pride Month. He sent out a series of tweets informing the nation of his efforts:

Of course, the White House won’t care about this, and there are only two or three pro-LGBTQ GOP Senators, so likely the legislation won’t become law. Certainly, Pence wouldn’t let Trump sign it anyway. However, it’s a wonderful thing that they are taking it upon themselves to do the right thing, even if it is just symbolic.

Happy Pride, everyone!
