Donald Trump has given racist white people the green light to act as vile as they please, thanks to his divisive presidential campaign and ongoing discriminatory presidency. We saw the horrifying effects of this in the rise in hate crimes after Trump was elected and unfortunately, we’re still seeing this disgusting behavior play out.
Recently, a series of disturbing videos have come to light, which show a racist white woman having a meltdown at a Walmart Supercenter parking lot in Fargo, North Dakota. Local news station KVVR reported that on Tuesday, Amber Hensley attacked three Somali-American women and threatened their lives.
It all started when Hensley aggressively approached the three women – Rowda Soyan, Sarah Hassan and Laleyla Hassan – and yelled at them to “move their car.” When the woman told Hensley they were recording her with their phones and would go to the police, Hensley got even more irate. She yelled:
“Go home, go home. We’re going to kill all of you. We’re going to kill everyone one of you.”
You can watch the disturbing footage below:
What these three women were subjected to is absolutely disgraceful, and it never should have happened. After this footage circulated on social media, Hensley felt pressured to come out and publicly apologize because her behavior was “not a Christian-like thing to do.” Hensley said:
“I would first like to apologize for the horrible things that I said to the two ladies at Walmart. It was not a Christian-like thing to do AT ALL and wish I could take it back, but I lost my cool and I can’t. I am terribly sorry. I just wish the whole video could be shown. And the things that were stated before she starts taping.”
Hensley has tried to defend herself, stating that there was more to what happened than is on video. According to Hensley, a disagreement had started because the women had parked too close to her and she couldn’t get into her car. Hensley said:
“She had parked way too close to my car and I couldn’t get in, when I asked her to move she refused, I asked her again and she swore at me calling me a fat b—, to that I informed her that I was a Christian and asked her if she knew who Jesus was, she said F— JESUS and I lost it. But there are absolutely no excuses. I am in tears with regret and will take any form of punishment deemed fit.”
After this incident made headlines, Hensley’s employer, Horab & Wentz, fired her and released this statement, which was shared by HPR journalist Christopher Hagen:
“Horab & Wentz does not support the statements expressed by Amber Hensley in the recently posted video. She does not represent or reflect the views of Horab & Wentz. Ms. Hensley is no longer employed with Horab & Wentz effective immediately.”
The videos were originally shared by Hukun Dabar, the executive director of the Afro-American Development Association (AADA), after the Somali women gave him permission to share the videos. Dabar said:
“They called me because I’m one of the committee leaders here [at AADA]. I never thought it’d go viral [and be] on national news.”
On his Facebook page, Dabar wrote:
“What happened today at Walmart Fargo – 13th Ave S Parking lot is unacceptable. Three Muslim ladies were at the parking lot, a white lady approached them with hateful words and threatened them “that she will kill all of them” and no one defended them.”
Everybody was watching, really is this Fargo, the welcoming City!! This is the fifth incident happening in our community. This must be stopped.”
Unfortunately, incidents like this one are now all too common in Trump’s America.
