At a time when Donald Trump is threatening North Korea with military action, it seems the rest of the world may be walking on eggshells as Trump publicly displays how erratic, irresponsible and trigger happy he is.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has just stated that he would like to set up a meeting with Trump to handle negotiations, and Trump’s response is absolutely terrifying. Instructing Venezuela’s foreign minister to set up a meeting, Maduro said:
“Initiate negotiations Chancellor, so I can have a personal conversation with Donald Trump, initiate negotiations so I can have a telephone conversation with Donald Trump. Because if I travel to New York, in a few weeks to the United Nations, to have a meeting with Donald Trump, if you are so interested in Venezuela, here I am, here is the chief of your interest, Nicolas Maduro Moros, constitutional president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Mr Donald Trump, here is my hand – if it is about hands, here is my word.”
Right as Maduro said this, Trump was telling reporters at his New Jersey golf club that he isn’t ‘ruling out a military option’ in Venezuela. Trump said:
“We have many options for Venezuela, including a possible military option, if necessary.”
When Trump was asked if the U.S. would respond with force, Trump said:
“We don’t talk about it. But a military operation, a military option, is certainly something we could pursue.”
Maduro and Trump have a history of clashing. Previously, Trump has called Maduro a “dictator” and put sanctions against him and several other Venezuelan officials.
It’s clear that Trump is high off of his nuclear threats to North Korea and is obsessed with military action at the moment, making all other negotiations with world leaders even more scary. You can watch Trump threaten Venezuela below:
