Mike Pence Just Stormed Out Of NFL Game After Players Protested The Anthem

Mike Pence claims that he got fed up and walked out on the Colts-49ers NFL game today out of frustration that the San Francisco 49ers players had the nerve to kneel in protest of racial injustice in America. Pence made a series of tweets about his walk-out.

Such a well written statement seems to have been planned in advance. Many people noticed that his tweets were very well-stated, as if some thought had gone into the wording.

It is coming to light that the entire walk-out was probably nothing more than a planned publicity stunt to redirect attention back to the National Football League (NFL) and the ongoing battle between the Trump administration and professional athletes, which has waned over the last few weeks.

Brian Stelter on CNN pointed out some interesting things during commentary shortly after Pence made the initial tweets:

The vice president was in Las Vegas yesterday and speaking solemnly about the massacre and flew home to Indiana and spent the night and went to the game today. He’s about to head back to the west coast.

His statement almost seems written ahead of time and it seems like it was a staged moment for Pence to walk out and make a statement about this. But clearly, he feels strongly about these anthem protests. He wanted to express his criticism of them. So maybe he is back watching the game at home.

After Stelter’s commentary, and after the VP started getting feedback from unhappy people, his boss tried to soothe the rising waves by tweeting.

Another very interesting point made by people bringing this to light is that the press pool that follows Pence around and uses these appearances as impromptu photo ops and for general publicity were told to wait outside the stadium, and that Pence wouldn’t be there long.

The protests will undoubtedly continue to support the fight against racial injustice. It is also probably a sure bet that Trump will continue to try to distract from that message and continue accusing the players of being unpatriotic, disgusting, disrespectful, and all the other insults he has hurled at players, owners, teams, and fans since the beginning of the football season.

The take-away from all this should be that we develop the ability to cut through the nonsense being spoon-fed to their base of rabid so-called patriots by Trump and look to solving a problem that has plagued this nation for as long as she has existed. The Founding Fathers called it in the Declaration of Independence and we have never lived up to it. Until we start treating all men and women equally — THIS is why people kneel:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
