Donald Trump’s popularity ratings aren’t just a disaster in America – he’s failing with the entire world. Trump has become so unpopular that other countries have been massively protesting against him, and it’s actually paying off in some areas.
Thanks to the widespread opposition to Trump visiting the UK, his planned state visit in 2018 has just been canceled and downgraded to a “working visit.” Even more embarrassing for Trump – he was previously supposed to be a guest of the Queen, which is no longer happening.
When the UK’s Prime Minister, Theresa May, first offered Trump a state visit, she was met with major backlash from not only the citizens, but officials as well. House of Commons Speaker John Bercow said that Trump wouldn’t get the opportunity to address parliament. London mayor Sadiq Khan strongly voiced his disagreement with the decision to offer Trump a state visit, and said that he was “not sure it is appropriate for our government to roll out the red carpet” for the undeserving POTUS. Hundreds of thousands of citizens actually signed a petition opposing Trump’s state visit and there were boycotts across the country.
Trump has been extremely sensitive to the UK’s protests and criticism against him, and even complained about it. There were rumors that Trump wanted to delay his visit until he felt more welcomed. However, the 2018 state visit was still supposed to happen – until now.
For Trump to not be getting the customary meeting with the royal family will be a major blow to his ego. The honor of visiting the UK has been completely removed, as Trump will now be visiting as part of a multi-country tour. We can expect that when the time comes, Trump is going to throw a Twitter fit about how he has been ‘disrespected’ and protested against by the UK. Unfortunately for Trump, not a damn soul feels bad for him.
